On August 4, 2022, Joseph & Lindsey's 40th season debuted. When Joseph, Lindsey, and the crew encounter individuals who are impersonating them, most of them refer to them as lookalikes, while some refer to them as a phony representation of themselves. The team is curious about the lookalikes' motivations after meeting them, but they refuse to offer any plausible explanations. One of the lookalikes spills the beans about the other one of them a few days after the crew first sees them, and soon after they learn this, the team has made friends with the lookalikes but not with the person who the lookalike has revealed the truth about.
