Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Nick Marsh decide to marry after Nick is severely injured in the bridge collapse, with Meredith realizing she doesn't want to let fear dictate her life. The season features the departure of long-time series regulars Dr. Owen Hunt and Dr. Teddy Altman, who leave for a new life in France after surviving a near-fatal plunge in his car during the bridge collapse, marking an end to their long-running storyline.
