Susannah admits to Max what she did on New Year's Eve, and that she has told Lisa their plans. Ron prepares for a midweek "weekend away". Carmel is suspicious when Sinbad's undies go missing. Peter's plans are significantly different from Lindsey's.

Carmel becomes more sure that Sinbad is having an affair. Lindsey finishes with Peter, and Ron's holiday proves expensive. The tension is getting to Mick, and Eleanor tries to reassure him. Jimmy's assistant is looking a little different, and refusing to do much work. Then a policeman arrives.......
Episode 1997 - Reality Setting In

Louise decides that she will leave if Eleanor won't help her to find her father. Barry returns, bringing flowers for Lindsey. Cassie tells Mick she thinks she was wrong about him, and wishes him good luck. Ron feels that he has been taken for a ride. Sinbad finally tells Carmel what is troubling him, and it is time for Jacqui to take another pregnancy test.......

Jacqui deliberates over whether to tell Susannah the results of her pregnancy test. Ron calculates the cost of his holiday with Molly. Jackie tries to prevent Lindsey from entering a relationship with Barry, and Mick's trial begins.

Katie has a cunning plan to allow Jacqui more time to think. Carmel takes Sinbad to the doctor, but this may not ease his fears. Jackie catches Barry in Lindsey's bedroom again, and Ron has to hide outside in the rain when David has a visitor.

Susannah is convinced that everything will be fine, but what is Jacqui up to? Mick gives his evidence in court, and is forced into making an admission. Barry tries to convince Lindsey that they have a future.

Lindsey makes an unpleasant discovery. Mick and Sinbad are both awaiting verdicts, but in different places. Barry confronts Jacqui about the money due to him, and finds out what she has done to try to earn it.

Barry has a bit of explaining to do, a chance encounter with Max may cause Jacqui to change her plans, and the jury arrive at a verdict on Mick.

Jimmy tries to comfort Lindsey. Katie isn't convinced that Jacqui has made the right decision. Julia has some advice for Peter, and Ron has to do some grovelling at the bank.

Rachel returns from Bristol, and notices a change in Jacqui. Tim feels that Melanie is getting everything that she wants, and he is getting a raw deal. Eleanor tells Ollie the truth about Louise's father.

Jimmy advises Lindsey not to tell Peter the truth about Barry. Tim tries to be "grown-up", but no-one will let him. Mo is eventually sacked, and Cassie goes to see Mick, but will he let her see the children?

Jimmy finds somewhere to do his washing. David repairs the guttering. Jacqui seeks Eleanor's advice on Barry's contract. Rachel reacts violently when Tim threatens Ruth, and there is an angry confrontation.

Jimmy and Lindsey have different ideas on what to do with their unexpected windfall. Mick receives a bouquet of flowers, and wishes he hadn't. Ollie finds it difficult to come to terms with Eleanor's revelations. David and Molly try to avoid Ron and Julia at a country and western evening.

Jackie assures Peter that things will get better for him, and discovers a way of achieving this. Ron plans to introduce a games area into "Bar Brookie", but Jacqui has other ideas. Eleanor cannot decide whether to tell Louise about Marcus, and Susannah and Max receive exciting news.

Peter confronts Jimmy, hoping for some answers about the stolen money. Rachel is suspicious of Jacqui's sickness and secrecy. Sinbad tries to convince Tim to start pulling his weight.

Peter and Lindsey are nervous about speaking to each other again. Jacqui has to see a doctor, and her nervousness leads to conflict with Katie and Susannah. David is worried because he hasn't heard from Molly, and gets a big shock when he goes round to see her.

Forced to scrounge water from the neighbours, Jackie asks David for her job back. Jimmy needs a plumber, and one just happens to be working nearby. Julia and David both notice a change in Susannah - so the "cover story" begins. Ron starts to leave IOUs in the till at "Bar Brookie".

Ron visits the Benefits Office, and Tim begins work at the building site. Shadwick and Son are leaving a few dissatisfied customers, and Susannah takes Julia for a driving lesson, but who will drop the bigger clanger?

Louise must decide whether to open a letter addressed to Eleanor in her absence. Max discovers that Susannah has promised that he will give Julia her next driving lesson. David becomes suspicious when Molly asks about his financial standing, and Ollie makes a complaint - but will it get him anywhere?

David gives Molly a guided tour of the petrol station. Mick test-drives a fast car. Eleanor is annoyed that Louise opened her letter, and more concerned that she still wants to meet her father. Katie has concerns about the "cover story", and there are a few surprises for Ron at the DSS office.

Now as disgusted with Mike as he is with Jacqui, Ron starts to collect evidence. Rachel doesn't find much to smile about on Katie's birthday night out.

Rachel is asking a lot of questions, and finding Jacqui's answers unconvincing. Mick buys a flash car, and is soon stopped by the police. Ollie takes Louise to see the prison in which her father is incarcerated. Tim gets his first wage packet, and Sharon makes sure he spends the money.

Peter receives a telephone call which may be good news. Jackie has an idea about how Jimmy might earn some extra money. Louise reveals the next stage in her plan to get to know Marcus. David takes Molly to a dance, but there are some familiar faces at the next table.

Lindsey is depressed to hear that Peter may be moving away. David seeks advice on the best kind of flowers to send Molly. Tim receives a tempting offer.

Max catches Tim in his garden. Louise receives a letter from Marcus. Susannah has relaxation tapes for Jacqui, but they might not have the desired effect. David tries to resolve Ron's disagreement with Molly, but only makes matters worse. Kylie makes an appointment to have her hair done.

Jacqui wants to take medication to combat her morning sickness, but Susannah has other ideas. Mick decides to get Leo a tutor. Max suggests that Ollie takes up body-building, and Ron has a few things to tell Molly - but will she listen?

Eleanor has a few ideas on how to encourage Louise to stay. Molly decides whether she wants to see David again, after hearing about the women in his past. The tutor Mick hires for Leo turns out to have some unorthodox methods - but at least Mick will be able to recognise him again.......

It is Mick's 40th birthday party, but can he convince anybody that his party comes as a surprise to him? Jimmy finally tracks down the missing plumber, but the work still isn't finished. Rachel feels that she is doing all of Jacqui's work - and when she complains, she is promoted. Dinner at the Farnhams doesn't go quite as planned.

Max's attempts to prevent Tim cutting through the garden lead to him injuring himself. Ron refuses to let Jacqui pay for his petrol when he runs out of cash and credit, and syphons it out of the tank instead. Molly responds to David's proposal.

Carmel and Melanie have flu, but Tim is still causing trouble. David asks Ron to find somewhere else to live, and begins to make plans for alterations to the bungalow, but will Molly agree?

Jacqui gets the date for her first baby scan, but Susannah is disappointed to find out who she wants to go with her. David must decide whether he is willing to move away from the Close.

Lindsey is apprehensive about Peter's return. Jackie and Cassie both read an advertisement for the manager's job at the petrol station. When she suggests painting the kitchen red, Eleanor fears that Louise is being influenced by Marcus.

David interviews the best applicants for the manager's job, but will Ron be among them? Eleanor wants to confront Louise, and Lindsey hears that Peter is not coming home yet after all.

As Jacqui has her first baby scan, Max begins to panic that their cover-story is not sufficiently well planned. It is Rachel's 19th birthday, but will anyone remember? It is time for David to leave the Close and move in with Molly - but events take an unexpected turn.

Ron doesn't want to tell the neighbours what has happened to David, but the new manager of the garage reveals the truth. Max feels that it is now time to plan every stage of next few months so that the Farnhams' criminal activity can remain undetected.

Mike discovers that Ron has been making a few adjustments to the bungalow. Greg tries to interest Sinbad in a conservatory, and hints that Tim is up to no good at the builders' yard. Max tries to point one some more of the pitfalls of the agreement with Jacqui, and a postcard arrives from Peter.......for Kylie.

Lindsey tries to prepare again for Peter's return. A chance remark by Greg brings past events flooding back for Max and Susannah. Eleanor seems to lose interest in the extension when a letter from Marcus arrives. Jacqui reveals who she wants to be her "birth partner". When Ron begins work at "Dawn Til Dusk", his first customer is someone he knows.......

Lindsey doesn't feel like going to work. Jacqui begins to wonder if having the baby is more trouble than it is worth, while Max and Susannah reflect on a year without Matthew and Emily.

Ben returns home, and finds that someone has been sleeping in his bed. Max finds Greg's building materials littering the Close, and is not amused when he starts knocking walls down - and nor is Mick, when his car is covered in dust. Peter and Lindsey accidentally find themselves at the same party.
Episode 2037 - Paraded
April 8, 1998
Louise returns home, but doesn't tell Marcus and Ollie what Marcus has sent her. Lisa is amazed to discover how Susannah's surrogacy plans have advanced. Mike shows Ron the flat that Jacqui has arranged for him, and he agrees to move in.
Episode 2038 - Ready For Blast-Off

Susannah is convinced that Jacqui will still go ahead with the pregnancy, but Max has his doubts, and goes round to speak to her. The Shadwicks move into the bungalow. Kylie has a picture for Peter, but wanders off while Lindsey is talking to him. Sinbad does Ron a favour which may have unexpectedly far-reaching consequences.

Kylie is missing, several of the other residents are injured or trapped, and a second blast rocks the parade.

Survivors are found within the wreckage of the parade, but it is going to be difficult to dig them out. Susannah and Jimmy both return home, and react very differently to the news awaiting them.

Tension on the parade increases as rescue efforts continue, and a dead body is brought out of the wreckage.

As the emergency doctors prepare to amputate, more rubble comes crashing down on the trapped victims of the explosion. Louise visits Marcus, but he suspects there is something she is not telling him.

Some of the injured residents are determined to get back to work as soon as possible, despite attempts to make them slow down. Others, however, are looking for someone to blame.

Louise reveals to Katie where she was at the time of the explosion. Jacqui and Ron are interviewed by the investigating officer, and Rachel becomes suspicious when Max seems to be doing a spot of groping.

When Jackie needs a babysitter, Nikki discovers that she has volunteered. When a present arrives from Barry, Lindsey thinks she has lost Peter for good. A news article Marcus has found for her shocks Louise, and Carmel is finding it difficult to come to terms with what has happened to Ben.

Katie doubts that Eleanor will understand what Louise is doing. Greg discovers that news travels fast. Sinbad is interviewed, but may not be believed. Max is embarrassed by Jacqui's interest in his bare bottom.

Sinbad discovers Tim about to spray graffiti in his house, and straightens him out. Mike plans to launch a film career, and discovers what Gary is up to with Lindsey. Julia may have found some more housebuyers for Max and Susannah after the previous ones drop out, and Jason suddenly loses his appetite when he hears Katrina's news.
