Due to a mix-up, a woman named Yihuo mistakes Hong Qi as her betrothed, turning a misunderstanding into a fateful connection. By a twist of fate, Hong Qi masters powerful martial arts and rises to become the leader of the Beggars' Sect, but an old grudge from their fathers' generation sparks a rift between Hong Qi and Duan Zhixing.

Hong Qi initiated reforms within the Beggars' Gang, upsetting Elder Pang of the Clean Clothes Faction. During the succession ceremony, they publicly accused him of seducing the Dali crown princess, attempting to drive a wedge between Hong Qi and Duan Zhi Xing.
