Jax convinces Arthur to join the choir's progressive Thanksgiving dinner and snoop in choir members' homes to find a missing item. Meanwhile, Adams invites her handsome contractor to dinner as a set-up for Ginny, but he has something else in mind.

Reverend Jax's parents make an unexpected visit, and aren't impressed by his ministry. When Arthur finds out they are fans of his, he resolves to help them see Jax differently. Ginny and Wayne begin a "holiday fling".

Ginny and Wayne worry about the possible consequences of their fling, and about Cash's chances at the local pageant. When they learn Arthur is to be a judge, they hope to be able to influence his decision. Adams' attitude to the rumour that she killed her missing husband upsets Karl.

The choir decide to hold an all night hymn-a-thon to try to raise funds for their trip to the regionals. Arthur's only remaining supporter at Princeton arrives in town, leading Arthur to hope that he is going to get his old job back.
